KCMO residents in a steady stream of about 750 cars and trucks, some towing trailers, properly disposed of over 71 tons of bulky items such as old furniture, leaves & brush and trash at drop-off sites at First Baptist Church of Kansas City and South Broadland Presbyterian Church at this spring’s 6th Council District Cleanup on May 4 that was open to all city residents.
A total of 1,165 tires, with and without rims, were collected, and on-site shredding also was provided. Electronics were accepted at the South Broadland drop-off site, but there were charges to drop off many electronic items.
The cleanup was conducted by the KCMO Public Works Department and sponsored by 6th District City Councilmembers Andrea Bough and Johnathan Duncan. Another 6th District Cleanup is planned for fall.
