Lee’s Summit Police Department asks for help locating dangerous fugitive

The Lee’s Summit Police Department has issued a public call for tips on the whereabouts of Thomas Eugene Tolbert, a fugitive wanted for 1st Degree Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Armed Criminal Action, Unlawful possession of a weapon, resisting arrest with serious injury and 2nd degree domestic violence assault.

According to a Blue Alert issued by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, after shooting a police officer Tolbert fled in a vehicle that was found later in Grandview.

Tolbert is age 27, 6 foot 2 inches and 240 pounds. with brown eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing a black hooded shirt and black shorts.

He is considered armed and dangerous.

The cash reward for anonymous information leading to his arrest is up to $10,000.

A statement from the Lee’s Summit Police Department indicated the injured officer underwent surgery this morning. He remains in serious condition and continues to recover in a nearby hospital.

The situation caused the closure of Catholic Charities’s Serve and Lift Center, 8001 Longview Road for the day. An Instagram post explained: “For the safety of our staff and guests, our KC location is currently closed due to activity in the area.”
