On Friday, January 19, Premier Mazda presented Martin City Elementary and Middle School with a check for $3,550 from its Coats 4 Kids campaign. For every Mazda sold during the month of December, $50 was donated to the coat drive. A total of 56 cars were sold, according to Premier Mazda General Manager Tim Smith. “We got Mazda to kick in a little more with us,” he added.

Smith says Mazda holds an annual Drive for Good campaign. “We were looking for something a little different,” he says. “It’s easy to put your name with the Chiefs and Royals. But this goes a little farther.”

Smith says their sister store in Overland Park also adopted an elementary school. That store raised $2,900. “We beat them,” he jokes.

Principal Johnny Dodge, Assistant Principals Dana Green and Andy Leech and a group of smiling children happily received the check between morning classes. Dodge felt many families would appreciate the donation.
