Mobile Food Pantries
Free fresh produce and other healthy food supplied by Harvesters may be picked up by persons in need during the four upcoming monthly visits to south Kansas City by a semi-truck that serves as Harvesters’ mobile food pantry.
The first event will run from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Saturday, June 13, at Evangel Church, 1414 E. 103rd St. Persons may remain in their vehicles, and the food will be brought to them.
The second event will be from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at Ruskin High School, 7000 E. 111th St. Vehicles should line up on Ruskin Way on the east side of the school, and the food will be brought to the vehicles when they get to the school. The event is sponsored by the school and the Community Assistance Council.
The third event will begin with registration starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 20, and food distribution starting around 8:30 and usually finishing by 10 at Colonial Presbyterian Church, 9500 Wornall Rd. Families are requested to bring two cardboard boxes for volunteers to load the food into.
The fourth event will start at 11 a.m. the same day at Martin City K-8 School, 201 E. 133rd St., and continue until food runs out. The event is sponsored by Three Trails Community church.
