The Martin City Community Improvement District and South Kansas City Chamber of Commerce are hosting a law enforcement appreciation event with free refreshments and exhibits of police equipment and vehicles that will be attended by area officers from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, in the KC Running Company parking lot, 200 E. 135th St.
Attendees are encouraged to donate a new backpack, and those that are collected will be distributed to students at the Martin City K-8 School.
