Jazz Vespers kicks off season with Millie Edwards

Edwards is known in Kansas City for her big voice and wide vocal range.

Kansas  City Jazz Vespers features Millie Edwards and her band at the historic First Baptist Church of Kansas  City, MO on Sunday evening, September 17, 6 – 8 pm.  

Millie Edwards started playing piano at only four, and the viola at ten. Edwards is known in Kansas City for her big voice and wide vocal range. She has been a regular on the Kansas City jazz and blues circuit, performing at the best clubs and in radio and television spots. Music critics have praised her as revealing “a confident, full-range voice that has no doubt been heard in church on many a Sunday.” Her singing has been characterized as being both honest and dynamic, and her phrasing is credited for finding new reflections from old, familiar words. 

The fall series includes Pablo Sanhueza on October 14 and Charles Williams on November 19th. 

First Baptist Church is located in south Kansas City at the northwest corner of Red Bridge Road and Wornall Road.  

Kansas City Jazz Vespers features 100 minutes of popular, professional jazz in a concert setting.  It’s free; there are no tickets or reservations.
