South KC Perspective

Knowing they will not be responsible for potentially expensive out-of-pocket co-payments not covered by their health insurance if their household belongs to the Kansas City Fire Department’s ambulance service membership plan can prevent potentially deadly delays in calling 911 when persons suffer a life-threatening medical emergency.
The membership plan only costs $59 for 12 months or $109 for 24 months for KCMO households with health insurance and covers all costs for medically necessary emergency ambulance service for the head of household, spouse or domestic partner and their parents, children, grandchildren or siblings living in the residence or in a nursing home in KCFD’s service area.
For households without health insurance, the plan costs $99 for 12 months or $189 for 24 months and provides a 30% discount on medically necessary ambulance charges.
If Medicaid is the primary health insurance for persons they are not eligible for the membership plan.
Persons may contact Debra Townsend, KCFD membership billing manager, at 816-300-8828 or at Debra.Townsend@kcmo.org to apply for membership or if they have any questions.
