What began as a small company in 2017 providing cotton candy to quaint gatherings and parties, quickly grew into a full-blown sweets and treats ice cream shop – opening Cookies & Creamery at the Red Bridge Shopping Center in May of 2021.
Opening during a post-pandemic world combined with initial construction complications and surprise expenses has led the creamery back to its catering roots – closing its storefront doors in December of 2023.
Steve Bosserman and his wife Kiffany signed a lease in October of 2020 with the Red Bridge Shopping Center, occupying what was previously Vito’s Barber Shop.
“While it is bitter-sweet for us not to have a storefront where we can interact with customers on a daily basis, we were born from an events company and that’s where we really thrive,” says Bosserman. “As an events company, we’re able to control all of our expenses and overhead. That model creates an opportunity for us to try and dig our way out.”

The company will also be expanding their online delivery sales via Doordash and UberEats. Items available to order include ice cream pints, the creamery’s signature ice cream sandwiches, Popculture gourmet popcorn, cookies, cotton candy, and more.
The creamery will offer free delivery within the greater Kansas City area on products ordered with gift cards. Additionally, gift cards can also be applied to event bookings. “We are committed to honoring any gifts cards through the summer of 2024. We want to be sure the generous gifts and support of our shop do not go to waste,” said Bosserman.
Cottontale KC is available for driveway tailgate concessions, wedding treats, or corporate events and can accommodate groups from 5 to 15,000. Core services include ice cream, ice cream sandwiches, cookies, milks/hot cocoa, live butter/kettle popcorn, or packaged gourmet popcorn service, as well as live and packaged cotton candy services.
“Our overarching message to the community is a huge thank you for the way the people showed up for us and supported us. We are really grateful and, as a family, made incredible memories.”
