No trash pick up Tuesday, four bags allowed rest of week

All households will be allowed four bags this week and Monday.

With some trash bags still sitting on curbsides due to Friday’s arctic weather, the City has announced that it will hold off on Tuesday’s trash pick up when temperatures get into the teens.

“As subzero temperatures continue in Kansas City, employee safety remains a priority,” reads a statement from City Hall. “The effects of prolonged exposure to dangerously cold temperatures create avoidable health and safety risks. Kansas City is taking necessary steps to reduce risks to our employees during these extreme temperatures.”

Tuesday’s trash pick up with commence on Wednesday followed by Wednesday’s trash on Thursday, Thursday’s trash on Friday, and Friday’s trash on Saturday. Four bags are allowed this week and Monday.

  • Trash collection will begin Wednesday, January 17th with Tuesday collection households.
  • Monday households will not be collected until Monday, January 22nd.
  • All households will be allowed 4 bags.
  • Bulky pick-up appointments will be rescheduled.
