Leawood bursts with celebration on the 4th

A neighborhood parade, city park activities and fireworks display fill out 4th of July in Leawood.

Leawood is bustling with activities to celebrate the 4th of July this year.

On Thursday morning, the neighborhood of LeaBrooke, 145th and Kenneth Road) invites the public to line their parade route starting at 10 am on July 4th. The parade features “Miss LeaBrooke,” flag bearing veterans, patriotic pets, decorated bikes, horses and lots of cute kids. For more details, contact Michael Nolte 913-522-7610.

Later, the city will have its Celebration in the Park at Leawood City Park, 10601 Lee Blvd. Free admission.

The celebration starts at noon with:

  • Leawood Aquatic Center Open (Regular Admission Fees apply) • 12-6 pm
  • Kids Activities and Entertainment • 6-9:30 pm
  • Food Trucks • 6-9:30 pm
  • Twice on Sunday band • 7-9:30 pm
  • Fireworks • 9:45 pm (approximately)

Limited free parking along Tomahawk Creek Parkway and shuttle buses to and from City Park at no cost. (Shuttles run from 10 am through end of event with exception of during fireworks show.)

Finally, if you are out and about driving along I-435, you can admire Leawood’s new 75th Anniversary sculpture which is scheduled to light up for the first time along the highway near State Line Rd (outside the water treatment plant).
