A free south Kansas City Resources Fair attended by representatives of scores of social service agencies that provide education, employment assistance, health & wellness services and safety & security help such as providing free gun locks will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, August 3, at the Optimist Bingo Hall at 11154 Blue Ridge Blvd. in the Ruskin Shopping Center.

Modeled after a successful resources fair at the site in February that also was presented by the Community Assistance Council, with hospitality provided by the Ruskin Heights Homes Association, there is no fee for community residents to attend, and activities for children including making friendship bracelets will be available.

Participation is free for churches, government agencies, neighborhood associations and other nonprofits, and there is a $50 fee for businesses and other for-profit companies that are requested to not sell products or services onsite.  Many organizations utilize the fair to recruit new employees as well as to familiarize community residents with their services.

The deadline for organizations to register to participate is July 29, and they can obtain a registration form by going to www.cackc.org/resources-fair
