Amber Alert suspect found in Ruskin area

The investigation into the endangerment of the welfare of the child remains ongoing.

The Kansas City Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol issued an Amber Alert earlier today for a 9-month-old boy taken from a home off of Hedges Avenue (off I-70 and 39th Street) this morning.
At 9:50 am, KCPD officers made contact with the caller who relayed that she had been in phone contact with her daughter this morning and at that time her daughter had made some statements indicating she intended to harm her son (callers grandson). Based on the nature of the threats she called police and requested we respond to the mother’s address on Hedges.
Officers gathered all pertinent information from the calling party and relayed that to Juvenile Squad detectives. Based on the circumstances Juvenile Squad detectives requested an AMBER alert from Missouri Highway Patrol for a 2015 Nissan Rogue license plate 379RGM.
Officers located the suspect vehicle and the mother in south Kansas City near the Ruskin area.

The mother advised she had passed the child to another family member. Detectives made contact with that family member and verified the safety of the child.

Based on that update detectives requested the AMBER Alert be cancelled.

The investigation into the endangerment of the welfare of the child remains ongoing.
