Local Irish chef fatally shot in Brookside

Local chef Shaun Brady of Brady and Fox and formerly Conroy’s Irish Pub has lost his life to a crime gone wrong.

Yesterday evening at around 5:18 pm officers responded to 63rd and Rockhill on a reported shooting.

Upon arrival officers found Brady in a back parking lot of his restaurant suffering from gunshot wounds. The officers began performing life saving measures. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.

This is being investigated as a homicide. Preliminary investigation revealed Brady was taking out trash when he observed multiple subjects by a vehicle. An interaction between Brady and the subject occurred that led to him being shot

Brady grew up in Tipperary Co. in Ireland. He graduated from The Dublin Institute of Technology School of Culinary Arts at the top of his class, and met his wife from Wichita while she was traveling in Ireland.  They moved to the States where he became executive chef for the Ambassador Hotel chain before settling in Kansas City. He met up with another Irishman, Ray Dunlea, who recognized his skills and welcomed him to Conroy’s Irish Pub. In 2022 he partnered with Graham Farris and opened Brady and Fox in the Brookside area.
