There are loads of festive community events happening around south KC!

Here’s a roundup of events in the coming weeks to celebrate the holidays.


December 17: 
How the Grinch Stole Storytime

Read a book with the Grinch and pose for photos. 10:30 to 11 am.

KCPD South Patrol hosts this holiday gathering and movie night for the public, in cooperation with 5th & 6th District Council offices and community partners. 5 pm

Breakfast with Santa

Enjoy Chris Cakes pancakes, festive crafts and photos with Santa. Tickets are $8/$10 at the door. 8 to 10 am.

December 23: Hearthside Christmas Story Time

Cozy up for holiday story time with a costumed interpreter in the decked-out parlor. Ideal for PreK-1st graders (or anyone who likes stories). Tickets are $5 per child. 10 am, 10:30 and 11 am.

December 25: Senior Citizens Christmas Day Dinner

Seniors may receive a free Christmas dinner, served or delivered to you. The free dinner is courtesy Richard D. White, a retired Kansas City, MO, Police Officer. White has been providing free Christmas dinners for the past 47 years. This year, he and numerous volunteers are expected to feed over 800 people at three locations across the metro. November 27 – December 31: 37th Annual Christmas In The Park 

Longview is transformed into a magical winter wonderland with half a million lights and 200 animated displays. Free admission; voluntary donation benefits local charities. 5:30 to 10 pm.

November 29 to December 22: Jolly: KC’s Country Christmas Pop Up

Festive food and beverages are served in an over-the-top western themed event barn. 2 hour reservations are $15 per person. Various times.

In-laws, Outlaws, and Other People (That should be Shot)

This heart-felt play follows a family whose quirky relatives visit for Christmas Eve dinner. Show times vary. Tickets are $18.
