On November 21, a group of staff members from Center High School who call themselves “For the Family” visited Ignite Medical Resort, 621 Carondelet Drive in Kansas City. The group sang carols and presented residents with gifts and treats made by the high school culinary department.
“For the Family” wants to show support and give back to the south KC community. The joy continues with this classic holiday cookie recipe, shared courtesy of Luci Grim, FACS teacher at Center High School.

Easy Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients:
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
1 tsp vanilla extract
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375°F
2. Combine flour, baking soda and salt in a small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in a large mixer bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels and nuts. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.
3. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Cook on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.
