Go Fund Me page set up for Martin City woman who lost her life to domestic violence

Tiffany Chrisman, age 39, lost her life during a domestic abuse altercation that turned physical on December 26. A Go Fund Me page has been set up to help her children.

Police have named the victim of a domestic abuse dispute that proved fatal on the early morning hours of December 26 in Martin City. Tiffany Chrisman, 42, the property manager for Forest Ridge Villas, lost her life due to an altercation with her boyfriend. A Go Fund Me page has been set up to assist the Chrisman family.

“Today my best friend’s life was taken, stolen from her children, her family, and her friends,” writes Cat Smith, organizer of the page. “Tiffany was an amazing human who would do anything to help someone in need.” Money is being raised to assist her children with funeral costs and counseling for her 15-year-old daughter who witnessed the attack. She also has two sons, ages 22 and 24.

According to Smith, a longtime friend who talked to Chrisman on a daily basis, the relationship with the boyfriend was new. “She was in the process of getting to know him,” she said. He appeared at the apartment in the early morning hours uninvited.

Around 3:50AM, officers were dispatched to the Forest Ridge Villas on a reported Welfare Check. According to the report, when they arrived to the apartment, they located evidence of a possible disturbance. They entered the apartment to check for any victims or injured persons. While searching the apartment for anyone in need of possible assistance, Chrisman was located suffering from apparent bodily trauma and unresponsive. Officers checked for any indication of life and were unsuccessful. Emergency medical personnel also responded to the scene and declared Chrisman deceased.

Preliminary information indicated Chrisman and an adult male subject were involved in a verbal altercation that turned physical.  Due to the help of the public and neighboring police agencies, detectives were able to quickly locate a male subject of interest and take him into custody for further questioning. Detectives are not looking for any additional subjects of interest at this time.

Chrisman, a Grandview native, had built a career as a property manager for various apartment complexes in the area. Smith recalls that she would rent out a room in her basement at her Grandview home when space wasn’t available. “She didn’t want someone to get a sense of not having a home,” recalls Smith.  “There is nothing she wouldn’t do for anybody.”

Chrisman was hired to work at Forest Ridge Villas in 2023 when she also began living at the complex with her daughter.

“She was a beautiful, beautiful, beautiful soul,” says Chrisman. “She didn’t deserve this and neither did her daughter.”

This is being investigated as a homicide and is ongoing.

Forest Ridge Villas has released a statement: “Tiffany was cherished by our staff, tenants, family and her many friends. She will be sorely missed. Our hearts go out to them during this difficult time.”

The statement further details how their surveillance systems were able to assist in the capture of the person of interest. The complex is cooperating with authorities.
