Around 3 a.m., emergency crews responded to a confirmed fatality collision at I-435 and 103rd St.
A red Honda SUV was traveling westbound on I-435, too fast for weather conditions on the snow covered highway. Just east of 103rd Street, the Honda ran off the roadway to the right, traveling up and over the snowbank that was lining the north side of the highway. The Honda then vaulted off the bridge, falling approximately 100 feet and landing in the Blue River.
This is Fatalities #1 and #2 compared to #4 at this time last year and the investigation is ongoing.
