Sample southland eateries during KC Restaurant Week

Annual event boosts restaurant industry and benefits local charities

By Sara Wiercinski

The 16th annual KC Restaurant Week kicks off January 10 and runs through January 19, with a record 246 total restaurants participating.

In addition to supporting local businesses, a portion of Restaurant Week proceeds benefit local charities: House of Hope provides groceries and practical necessities to individuals in poverty; the Visit KC Foundation advocates for regional tourism interests; and the Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association Foundation offers scholarships toward careers in hospitality.

Visit any participating restaurant and select from special Restaurant Week prix fixe menus for lunch, brunch or dinner. Gratuity is additional. Here’s a guide to south Kansas City-area restaurants.
