ReDiscover, a nonprofit community mental health organization, has proposed plans to renovate the abandoned Price Chopper building at 9550 Blue Ridge Blvd.
The project will include renovation of the interior, modifications to the building facade, addition of landscaped parking lot islands, drainage improvements around the building, and improved walkable areas.
The facility will include therapy spaces for youth and adults, medical offices, group conference rooms, urgent care, and an on-site pharmacy.
Developers are seeking a zoning variance to increase the overall size of the building.
Proposed entrance and facade additions will add 1,900 square feet, and a proposed covered vehicle drop off that may be enclosed by garage doors will add 1,350 square feet. This would increase the overall building by a little over 3000 square feet.
“This is great!” says Hickman Mills United Neighborhood Chairman Brandon Wright. “Anything that gets rid of these blighted buildings is good news. Plus it’s a fantastic resource for the area.”
A smaller ReDiscover office is currently in operation at 5904 Bannister Rd.
The Bannister area of Hickman Mills is experiencing a small building boom.
Construction has begun for a new Starbucks and Chipotle building near Bannister Road and Hillcrest Road, on the edge of the Cerner campus.
Construction is also underway for a 200-unit apartment complex Depot at Old Santa Fe at 9100 Old Santa Fe Rd.
