It’s been five years since Loch Lloyd closed the Sechrest golf course. Two years since developer Brian Illig proposed residential housing on the site.
On Friday, February 28, after fierce opposition from a Homeowners Association, new density regulations written into a Land Use Master Plan, and promises hammered out in a 39-page development agreement, the Sechrest golf course was finally approved for rezoning from Residential Open Space to Single Family Residential. The vote was 4-1.
At the meeting, Trustee Chairman Randall Schultz emphasized that the developer “can’t shovel dirt” until every aspect of the development agreement has been followed.
“Everything that everyone took into consideration about what the developer should do is required to be in the development agreement,” Schultz told the Telegraph in an earlier interview. “We have a legal enforceable binding document.”
The proposed development includes 45 houses sectioned into four different corners of the Sechrest golf course. Much of the golf course will be preserved and include walking trails, a children’s park and landscaping. The landscaping is planned to enhance the appearance of the area as well as hide dense housing.
The Telegraph reached out to Brian Illig and his team Loch Lloyd Residential Real Estate and Development but received no response.
