On April 1, just after 7 pm, Kansas City Missouri Police Department officers were dispatched to a residence in the 9000 block of Blue Ridge in regard to a check the welfare call. On arrival officers were directed inside a residence where they located an adult female unresponsive and deceased. Her injuries were unknown.
Officers preserved the scene and called for detectives due to the suspicious nature of the incident. Detectives, to include homicide detectives, responded and began a suspicious death investigation at that time.
Crime scene investigators processed the scene for evidence and detectives canvassed for witnesses or anyone with knowledge of the residence. Overnight, detectives were notified by the medical examiner of a preliminary finding of homicide in this case.
This is now being investigated as a homicide, homicide detectives are working to determine the victim’s identification as well as the exact cause of death for the victim.

KCPD is committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency. The department is working with Partners for Peace in all homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
