Ward Parkway to close for Half Marathon

Saturday morning race will impact traffic along the parkway

Burns & McDonnell will host thousands of runners at the 16th annual Rock the Parkway Half Marathon on Saturday, April 12, an annual fundraiser for Children’s Mercy. The course will impact traffic along Ward Parkway from Bannister Road to 55th Street throughout the morning.

The race begins at 7:30 am at Burns & McDonnell headquarters, 9400 Ward Parkway, with runners heading north on Ward Parkway toward Loose Park.

Ward Parkway will begin to re-open as runners work their way back to the finish line. The road will remain closed on the south end until after 12 pm. Traffic along State Line Road, Bannister Road and along Wornall, south of 55th Street should not be impacted by the race.
