Rachel Long, owner of The Martin Event Space at 13440 Holmes Road, works with lots of couples and sees lots of types of celebrations. She named four trends in weddings for 2025.
1. Smaller guest lists.
“More people are viewing their wedding day as a chance to gather with their most favorite, core people, rather than a huge guest list,” said Long. She insists that the smaller, more intimate weddings can be just as fun as big events.
2. Guest experiences.
Couples are finding creative ways to entertain their guests: a live magician, outdoor games (giant jenga and cornhole) or scavenger hunt.
3. Smaller cakes and diversified desserts.
“The five-tier elaborate wedding cake is less popular now,” said Long, who said many couples opt for a small cake to cut, followed by less expensive sheet cake for the guests (“They will never know!” says Long), or a second dessert such as key lime pie or cookies.
4. Private moments for the couple.
Some couples insist that private vow sharing makes the experience more authentic. Private last dances are also a thing. “All the guests leave, and it’s a super-romantic way to end the night.”
