Two shot to death after group confrontation near Bannister and Hillcrest

This evening, just after 9 pm, patrol officers were dispatched to the 9600 block of Fremont near Bannister and Hillcrest on a reported shooting.

As officers arrived they were directed to the driveway of a residence. There they located an adult male and an adult female victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers immediately began performing life saving measures and ordered KCFD EMS to the scene. Medics declared both victims deceased, on scene.

The victims have been identified as Adriane Stanley, age 36, and Demetrius Davis, age 35.

Police say this is being investigated as a homicide and no one is in custody at this point. Preliminary investigation revealed there was an argument that led to a physical confrontation between several individuals. The physical confrontation led to shots being fired and the victims being struck. Detectives are canvassing the area for witnesses and surveillance footage. Crime scene personnel are processing the scene for any available physical evidence.

KCPD is committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

Police are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
