The Bay Water Park

Kansas City Parks & Recreation’s southside water park features a lazy river, giant swirl bowl slide, swimming pool with hoops and floating animals, and a family play pool with slides, sprays, fountains and a huge dumping bucket. Park opens May 24 and runs through Labor Day (September 1) – weekends only after school starts. Hours are noon to 7 pm with special hours for holidays. Costs range from $6 to $8 based on height and age, children age 1 and under are free. Season passes, group admission and multi-visit punch cards are available. The Bay is currently hiring lifeguards and front desk personnel.

Belton’s Memorial Park Waterpark

Belton’s outdoor water park opens May 24 and runs until Labor Day weekend. Swimmers can plunge down the Speed Slide, ride an inner tube down the Tornado Slide, float over Cargo Crossing and challenge their balance skills on slippery lily pads. The 82,000-gallon Action River offers exercise when walking against the 4-mph current. Cost is $7 for residents of Belton, Raymore and Peculiar and $10 for nonresidents. Children ages 2 and under are free. Active military and first responders are free. Season passes and group rates for 10 or more are available.

Leawood Aquatic Park
10601 Lee Blvd., Leawood
This multi-pool swimming park opens May 24 and runs until Labor Day.. The park features an Olympic-size 50-meter pool, separate youth pool that includes zero-depth entry, waterfalls, fountains and slides and an infant pool with new slide coming soon. Hours are 11:30 am to 8 pm, with reduced hours after school is in session. Cost is $7 for Leawood residents and $10 for non-residents. Memberships and five-punch passes are available. Children under 12 months are free. Swim and dive teams and swim lessons for ages 3 to 14 begin in June.

Splash Pad at John Anderson Park
4701 E. 135th St, Grandview
In 2024, the City of Grandview installed new flooring for the splash pad, thanks to a community grant. In addition to a bright blue nautical theme, the slip-resident flooring also offers padding for softer landings. Splash Park opens Memorial Day through Labor Day, only when the outside temperature is 75 degrees or above. Hours are 10:30 am to 7:30 pm. Free. The splash park is free and runs from 10:30 am to 7 pm.

Splash Pad at The View Community Center / Meadowmere Park
13500 Byars Rd, Grandview
Grandview’s second outdoor splash park is adjacent to The View Community Center, which also has an indoor swimming pool. Park includes a winding slide, large dumping bucket, interactive play features and water spray games. Opens May 24 (weekends) and daily starting June 3. Day passes are $6 to $9 and must be purchased at The View. Hours are 10 am to 7 pm. 816-316-4888

Sunnyside Park Sprayground
8255 Summit St
The free splash pad is located in the northeast corner of Sunnyside Park, alongside playgrounds, paved walking trail and athletic fields. Facility opens May 24 and runs through Labor Day (September 1). Sprayground hours are 11 am to 7 pm. Adjacent picnic tables with umbrellas provide shade.

Loose Park Sprayground
52nd Terrace and Summit Street
The Loose Park Sprayground features bright colored fountain sprays and loops. Facility opens May 24 and runs through Labor Day (September 1). Sprayground hours are 11 am to 7 pm. Adjacent shaded benches and tables provide shade options. Parking is available along Summit Street, near the tennis courts.

Inclusive Sprayground at T. B. Hanna Station
214 S. Washington Street, Raymore
The Variety KC Inclusive Sprayground opened in 2021. It is completely ADA accessible with features specially designed to accommodate wheelchairs and other assistive devices. The park’s train theme continues with sprinklers and communication boards for the non-verbal visitors. Park operates May 24 through Labor Day, from 9 am to 8 pm daily.

Longview Lake Beach

Enjoy a day on the one-acre sandy beach, opening May 24 and running through Labor Day. Facilities include lifeguards, free parking and changing areas, along with picnic shelters and concessions. Hours are 1 to 7 pm on weekdays and 11 am to 7 pm on weekends. The “Sand Cinema” family film series is June 6, July 11 and August 1. Admission is $9 for adults and $7 for children (up to age 15) and seniors. Children ages 3 and under are free. The nearby marina provides more lake recreation with boat rental, kayaking, windsurfing and fishing.
