Grandview Education Foundation names four distinguished alumni

Honorees celebrated for outstanding achievements and service to the community

The Grandview Education Foundation honored four Grandview High School graduates for outstanding achievements in their lives and/or service to their communities by presenting them Jane Bryan Distinguished Alumni Awards at the Foundation’s annual Alumni Brunch May 31 at the Armacost Car Museum.

The honorees were:

Jazmin Burrell from the class of 2011 was honored for her success in the creative and high-tech fields and for her leadership in supporting small and emerging minority and women-led businesses so they are not overlooked in today’s crowded business marketplace.

Diane Euston from the class of 1998 was honored for her outstanding work as a teacher at Grandview High School (GHS) where she created a Kansas City History class – the only one in the area – and also led the broadcasting program to win an “All Missouri” rating in 2024. (Euston is also a Telegraph history columnist.)

Shawn Long from the class of 1985 was honored for his work as the Vice President of Philanthropy & Corporate Outreach at the University of Kansas Health System, his volunteer service on numerous boards and commissions in the metropolitan area and for mentoring GHS students.

Kathy Meyers from the class of 1976 was honored for her longtime volunteer work on behalf of the Grandview C-4 School District where she has served four terms on the Board of Education and was a founding member of the Grandview Education Foundation. She is currently the executive assistant to the school superintendent.
