KC kicks off summer with a day of free live music

More than 140 performances scheduled throughout the city

On June 21, Kansas City will be among hundreds of global cities hosting free live outdoor music on Make Music Day.

Southside venues include the Trailside Center, 9901 Holmes Rd, bandleader Oscar Polk’s front yard at 109th and Holmes, Park Place at 115th and Nall, and St. John’s United Methodist Church at 6900 Ward Parkway. Many Brookside locations are listed including Lakeside Nature Center, the Brookside tennis court park, Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium and a Brookside residence. (Note that Watts Mill will not participate this year, as reported in a previous issue of the Telegraph.)

Music acts range across genres–Acoustic, Gospel, R&B, Bluegrass, Latin, Jazz, Swing – and everything in between.

Kansas City hosted 120 live performances for Make Music Day 2024. This year’s event features 84 artists at more than 140 free performances throughout the city.
