Catch “You Can’t Take it With You” this weekend at Avila’s Goppert Performing Arts Center

Youth actors take up prize-winning play

First Act Theatre Arts will perform the classic play, “You Can’t Take it With You,” at Avila University’s Goppert Family Performing Arts Center this weekend.

The show debuts Friday, July 11 at 7:00 pm, with performances on Saturday, July 12 at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Tickets cost $14 each.

“You Can’t Take it With You” stars Meghan Churchill as Alice Sycamore and is co-directed by Jana Latchaw Milbourn and Andrew Milbourn.

The performance lasts approximately 2.5 hours including two intermissions. The Goppert Performing Arts Center is located at 73-109 E. 118th St. Parking is available.

The original play premiered in 1936 and won the 1937 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, then in 1938 was adapted into a film directed by Frank Capra.

First Act Theatre Arts formed in 2000 as a Christian youth theater school. The organization is based in Overland Park with performances around the metropolitan area. Learn more at firstactkc.org/you-cant-take-it-with-you.
