21st Fringe Fest returns to Kansas City

Arts Asylum will host plays; Melodrama performs festival’s first inclusively able show

Kansas City’s Fringe Festival celebrates live performances, visual arts and film with chances to meet the artists in venues across the city from July 6-27.

The Arts Asylum at 824 E. Meyer Blvd. is this year’s sole southside venue and will feature six different plays performed over multiple nights from July 18-26, including a history of burlesque dance, a Glee satire and an interactive trivia show hosted by a fire-eater and magician.

The Martin City Melodrama will perform a new original show, Fringe-ABILITY, featuring more than a dozen uniquely abled actors and senior rescue dogs entertaining through song, dance, puppetry and jokes. Three performances take place on July 23 and  24 (11 am) and July 25 at 6 pm.

Performances take place at the Unicorn Theatre’s Jerome Stage, 3828 Main St., The theater is accessible and has an adjacent parking lot.

Tickets to each performance are $15 for adults and $8 for children under 12.
