The victim who drowned in Indian creek Saturday, July 26th, surfaced Sunday afternoon just before 4 p.m. The victim was spotted by an individual fishing in the creek after he surfaced. The Kansas City Fire Department and Kansas City Police Department were notified and responded. The body was recovered and turned over to the medical examiner. He was found within the original search area.
At 6:46 p.m. on Saturday, Kansas City fire fighters were dispatched to reports of a possible drowning in Indian Creek, near 103rd Street and State Line Road. On arrival, companies surveyed the scene, interviewed a witness, walked the banks, and set up on bridges above the creek for better viewpoints. KCFD Rescue Companies began conducting a search in the creek, with “swimmers” and launched their Inflatable Rubber Boat. The KCFD Drone was deployed, along with a Human Remains Detection dog , and the Missouri Highway Patrol to assist in the search efforts.
After no rescue or recovery at 11:54 p.m., the decision was made to end operations for the night.
