Final PIAC hearings and application deadline coming up

Residents can apply for city funding for neighborhood improvement projects

South Kansas City residents who wish to apply for city funding for neighborhood capital improvement projects such as sidewalk installation or repair, playgrounds & other park improvements, street & traffic improvements such as new traffic signals, speed humps & other traffic calming measures and storm drainage control should plan on attending  August hearings of the KCMO Public Improvements Advisory Committee which will make recommendations to the City Council  for funding such projects for the city’s next fiscal year starting May 1, 2026.

The 6th Council District PIAC hearing will be at 6 p.m. Monday, August 4, at the Plaza Branch of the Kansas City Public Library, and the 5th Council District hearing will be at 6 p.m. Monday, August 18, at the Southeast Community Center.  The 6th District covers most of the western portion of south Kansas City, and the 5th District covers most of the eastern portion.

The deadline for submitting applications for PIAC funding is August 31, and persons may get applications and more information at the hearings or by calling the city’s capital improvements program at 816-513-1062 or emailing piac@kcmo.org.
