Opa! The KC Greek Festival is back
Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 120th and Wornall, will host the 63rd Annual Kansas City Greek Fest on September 5-7. The rain or shine event features authentic Greek food like gyros, souvlaki and baklava, music and dancing, marketplace shopping, wine tasting and church tours. To-go food orders are available if you cannot make the festival.

Watch out for Zombies at The Arts Asylum
KC’s Cyclopedic Ensemble will present Night of the Living Dead Live at The Arts Asylum on September 5-6, 8 and 11-13 with a special preview performance on September 4. The hilarious play reimagines the 1968 black-and-white film including multiple alternate endings.

Murder mystery returns to Main Street Theater
Merriam Webster selected the term “gaslight” as its 2022 word of the year, referring to a sustained form of psychological manipulation where a person questions his or her sanity. It’s also the topic of this year’s performance at Belton’s Main Street Theater.

The play Angel Street, commonly referred to as Gaslight, was written by Patrick Hamilton in 1939 and later adapted to the silver screen starring Charles Boyer and Ingrid Bergman.
The local performance stars Alan Palmer as Mr. Manningham and Alex Stutzman as Mrs. Manningham and runs September 5-7 and September 19-28. Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for seniors, youth under 18 and college students.

Jazz Festival in Prairie Village
Prairie Village will host its 14th Annual Jazz Festival at Harmon Park, 77th and Delmar, on Saturday, September 6 from 3 to 10 pm.

Admission is $5 per person and free for those 18 and under. Hear from Shawnee Mission East’s student jazz ensemble, Brad Gregoary Sextet featuring Clint Ashlock (artistic director with Kansas City Jazz Orchestra), Vanessa Thomas Trio and the Steely Dan tribute-band Glamour Profession.
Bring blankets or lawn chairs for seating. Food trucks will serve snacks and beverages.

Grandview, Get ready for Bash on Byars
Grandview Chamber of Commerce will host Bash on Byars on September 12 at the Grandview Amphitheater, 13501 Byars Rd. The free event includes a kid zone, screening of the original Ghostbusters movie, performance by JAM: Jackson and Mars tribute band and a fireworks show. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from local trucks and vendors.

Free Flower and Train Tour returns to Raymore backyard
Bob and Frances Schmuck once again welcome the public to tour their train garden wonderland on Saturday, September 13 from 9 am to 5 pm. The free tour showcases six garden trains running the entire backyard, water falls, koi fish and more than 1,000 plants in full bloom.
The tour is free at 1503 Ensley Circle in Raymore.
