A second public engagement meeting to get additional public input on the future of Blue River Rd. will be conducted by the city of KCMO from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, in the Center High School Auditorium, 8715 Holmes Rd.
Long sections of this once scenic north-south connector street from north of its crossing with Red Bridge Rd. to its intersection with Hickman Mills Dr. near U.S. 71 Highway have been barricaded to traffic for years and years due primarily to the failure of the street’s subgrade, some of which was constructed on fill adjacent to the bank of the river.
The city hosted a packed public meeting on future plans for the street at Wonderscope Children’s Museum on August 28, but there was little time for audience comments and questions due to the length of staff presentations on the condition of the street and the causes of its deterioration.
Persons with questions about Blue River Rd. are asked to go online as soon as possible to speakeasy.kcmo.gov and click on Add a Question to submit their questions so they can be answered by staff before the upcoming meeting.
