Fall Cleanups take in 70 tons of trash

5th and 6th district events also collected electronics, tires and hazardous waste

This fall’s KCMO cleanups in the 5th and 6th City Council Districts resulted in tons of unwanted items being properly disposed of at four drop-off sites October 11 in the 5th District and at two drop-off sites October 18 in the 6th District, all of which were open to all KCMO residents.

The 5th District sites collected approximately 36 tons of trash, 6 tons of electronics, 4 tons of brush, 4 tons of paper to be shredded on site and 1,779 tires from 582 vehicles. At the 5th District Ruskin High School site where household hazardous waste such as automotive products, household cleaners, lawn & garden products and paint were accepted, 4 tons of such products were collected.

The 6th District sites collected approximately 34 tons of trash, 5 tons of brush, 5 tons of electronics, 5 tons of paper to be shredded and 556 tires from 609 vehicles.

Additional cleanups are anticipated to be conducted in the spring.
