Married couple Freddy Bideau and Neri Centeno are the third owners of the event space located at the south end of the Red Bridge Shopping Center. But unlike the other two, this one serves a new and underserved demographic in the area.
The newly named Sunflower Events Hall welcomes everyone of all cultures but specializes in the Hispanic community.
Bideau and Centeno bring with them 13 years of experience as a DJ (Bideau) and event planner (Centeno) in the Hispanic community. At their October 19 open house, Spanish was the primary language as raffle winners were announced, music was played and young girls modeled sparkly bell-hooped quinceanera dresses. Variations of horchata and otherMexican-inspired drinks were taste tested along with desserts and a few savory items.
The parking lot was full despite a Chiefs game the same afternoon.
Bideau and Centeno have remodeled the space and added their special touch. Walled rooms have been removed, opening up the space to hold more as many as 180 guests. A room for a bridal suite still remains.

A stage for a DJ, large video screen and a lit up dance floor grace the east wall of the ballroom.
Hanging from the ceilings are short sheer white curtains that create an ethereal cloud-like atmosphere. A bright red British phone booth provides fun photo selfies. And a karaoke machine adds to special celebrations.

The space is available for weddings, baby showers, quinceaneras, corporate events, and more. Rates vary from $900 to $5900.
Sunflower Events Hall is located at 508 E 112 St.
