Marlborough hosts 3rd Annual Homeowner Resource Fair

Vendors and community partners offer ways to save money on home repairs and maintenance

The Marlborough Community Coalition will host a resource fair for homeowners on Saturday, November 8 from 11 am to 3 pm at the Marlborough Community Center, 8200 Paseo.

Community partners and vendors will offer ideas to reduce the cost of home maintenance, repairs and financing.

Metropolitan Energy Center will present solutions to use home energy more efficiently. CHES, Inc. will have information on budget education, utility assistance and services to prevent foreclosure. For qualifying homeowners, Legal Aid of Western Missouri will provide free legal assistance and can create a Beneficiary Deed which provides direct transfer of a home after the owner’s death.

Pet Resource Center of Kansas City will present their low-cost health services and food pantry for pets.

According to Diane Hershberger, Executive Director of the Marlborough Community Coalition, vendors will not have capacity to offer the same level of direct financial assistance as in years past, due to the recent disruptions of federal funding.

Hershberger says that while the event is coordinated by and for the Marlborough neighborhood, all are welcome to attend. Renters may also attend.
