No bulky item pickup Friday as city prepares for snowfall

Snow crews are working to ensure Kansas City is prepared for incoming winter weather expected on Friday afternoon.

Snow crews are working to ensure Kansas City is prepared for incoming winter weather expected on Friday, January 16. With below-freezing and possibly icy conditions anticipated from tomorrow afternoon through the evening, staff members started pre-treating at 9:30 Thursday morning to get the roads ready. 24-hour snow operations will continue through the weekend, as icy conditions could continue into Saturday.

Impact on City Services

  • Snow Operations: Crews are working 12-hours shifts while prioritizing ice control. Residents can check the Kansas City Snow Plow Map to see when their area was last plowed.
  • Bulky Item Pickup: Friday pickup is canceled so crews can focus on clearing ice. If you had an appointment for Friday, your collection will take place this weekend instead.
  • Trash and Recycling: Pickup will continue on the normal schedule.
