Kansas City Public Schools will share plans of its proposed renovation of Hale Cook Elementary, 7302 Pennsylvania Ave., in a public meeting at Ward Parkway Presbyterian Church, 7406 Ward Parkway, on Wednesday, February 11, from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.

The school district has applied for a Special Use Permit for the project.

The proposal includes a building addition and renovation, added parking and site improvement. Cost is estimated at $13.4 million.

The school opened in 1923, closed briefly in 2009 and, thanks to community efforts, re-opened in 2014. Last year, the school added a mobile classroom to accommodate the growing school population.

The public is invited to attend the meeting and will have the opportunity to ask questions of the district and design team for the project.
