Updates and Announcements
The digital billboard ordinance is scheduled before the Neighborhood, Planning and Development Committee of the Council at City Hall on October 23rd at 1:30pm. This ordinance will remove the digital ban on billboards from the strong billboard ordinance of 2007 which many of us have worked for and supported. Our organization, Southern Communities Coalition , South Kansas City Alliance, and the Kansas City Neighborhood and Advisory Council are opposed to the ordinance. We have asked our City Council to deny the ordinance.
The proposed used car lot at 701 E. Bannister Rd (SE corner) has been approved for a 2 year Special Use Permit. Earlier the BZA (Board of Zoning Adjustment) unanimously voted for denial, but the applicant asked for a re-hearing and the BZA reversed their decision on a 4 to 1 vote. We have been concerned about this corner for some time If you are concerned about the appearance or any other aspect, call 311 to report the condition.
The Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) is having a meeting on Wednesday, Oct 23 from 4:30-6:30pm at South Patrol. It is about a transportation plan for managing the regional transportation system for the next 20-30 years. This is an open house with a short presentation at 4:30pm to be repeated at 5:30pm
