Backyard Bird Count

Birdwatchers of all ages and levels of experience are invited to participate in this year’s 23rd annual Great Backyard Bird Count while hiking for a mile on the paved Indian Creek Trail. Persons wishing to take part are asked to gather at Trailside Center, 9901 Holmes Rd., at any of the following three times: 9:30 AM, Saturday, February 15; 3:00 PM Sunday February 16; or 9:30 AM Monday, February 17. Participants in countries throughout the world tally the number of of individual birds of each species they see and enter the numbers on the bird count’s website (http://birdcount.org) to create a real-time snapshot of where birds are to help conservation efforts. A project of the National Audubon Society and other organizations, last year’s bird count attracted over 160,000 participants.
