Flights of Fancy Mega-Kite Festival @ MCC-Longview

The free, family-friendly event marks its 18th year and features large-scale kites flown by Great American Kites & Events across the expansive lawn at MCC-Longview during National Kite Month. Spectators can watch mega-kites, power kites and stunt kites soar above the campus throughout the afternoon.

In addition to kite displays, the festival will include inflatable games, face painting and children’s activities. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase from local food trucks.

Guests are encouraged to bring their own kites to fly or purchase kites at the event while supplies last.

Parking for attendees will be available on the north and east sides of the MCC-Longview campus.

Support from event sponsors allows the college to keep the festival free for the community while also helping support student scholarships.

The festival began in 2006 when former MCC-Longview President Fred Grogan envisioned inviting the community to campus to fly kites and enjoy the college’s open green space.

Flights of Fancy will be held rain or shine. In the event of severe weather with thunder and lightning, the festival will be canceled. Updates will be posted on the Flights of Fancy Facebook page, MCCFlightsofFancy.
