Hiking: Birds and Blooms Hike at Cooley Lake @ Anita B. Gorman Conservation Discovery Center

Cooley Lake Conservation Area, located about 20 miles east of Kansas City, features a marshy lake that was once the main channel of the Missouri River. The lake and wetlands are an attractive stopover for spring migrating waterfowl including American white pelicans, and the bluff forest is rich in spring wildflowers like bloodroot and goldenseal. We will meet at the viewing platform next to the marsh. Bring binoculars and be prepared for a two-mile hike with some steep terrain. Directions will be sent via email the week before.
