Prairie Village Jazz Fest @ Harmon Park

The lineup for 2025 features an eclectic mix of newcomers and veterans of the local jazz scene:

3:05 – 3:35 p.m. Shawnee Mission East Blue Knights

The Blue Knights, a student jazz ensemble led by director Alex Toepfer, will kick off the event for the tenth time since the festival began in 2009.

4:00 – 4:50 p.m. Henry Scamurra’s Urban Forum

Henry Scamurra is a native of St. Joseph, Missouri and graduated from UMKC’s Conservatory, where he studied under legendary Kansas City jazz musicians. Urban Forum formed in 2023 with bassist Spencer Reeve, vibraphonist Isaiah Petrie, and drummer Jade Harvey. The group released their self-titled debut album in January 2025. HenryScamurra.com

5:10 – 6:00 p.m. Brad Gregory Sextet with Clint Ashlock

The Brad Gregory Sextet is composed of local Kansas City trumpet players. Band leader Brad Gregory played for the Houston Jazz Orchestra and worked as a professional jazz musician in New York City before relocating with his family to Kansas City. The group plays both original compositions and favorites from other jazz artists, and will be joined on stage by fellow trumpeter Clint Ashlock, the artistic director and conductor of the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra. 6:20 – 7:20 p.m. Vanessa Thomas Trio

Vocalist Vanessa Thomas has been wowing audiences across the country for years with her five octave range and versatility across genres, including jazz, blues, gospel and musical theater. After more than a decade touring with Grammy-award winning trumpeter Doc Severinsen, Thomas released her first album as a band leader in 2023 and frequently performs at concerts and special events across the state of Kansas. VanessaThomasSings.com

7:45 – 9:15 p.m. Glamour Profession

Glamour Profession is a Steely Dan cover band composed of eleven of Kansas City’s finest jazz and rock musicians. Playing more than just the hits, the group covers fan favorites and deep cuts. Follow Glamour Profession KC on social media.

Festival admission is $5 for adults and free for children under 18.

Blankets and lawn chairs are welcome.

Outside food and beverages are not allowed. Food and beverage will be available for purchase.

Service dogs are allowed for people with disabilities. No other pets, please.

Free parking at Shawnee Mission East, Prairie Village Pool, Mission Bible Church, and Community of Christ Bible Church. ADA parking and drop off available at Prairie Village City Hall.
