Public Art: A Peek Behind the Scenes” @ Leawood City Hall

The Leawood Welcomers, a women’s social organization open to all area women, presents “Public Art: A Peek Behind the Scenes” at Leawood City Hall (Oak Room, lower level) on Tuesday, October 22 at 10:30 am. There is no charge, and guests are welcome.
Artist and art event planner Holly Hayden will present how commissioned artwork is procured, how it’s created and why it’s important. The program begins at 11 am.

Hayden has over 20 years of experience in the art and design realm working with local artisans to sports teams, brands, architects, developers, airports, and municipalities. Her recent public art projects include liaising with 28 artists at the New Terminal and Parking at Kansas City International Airport. She is currently working on a $5 million sculpture project for the Buffalo Bills Highmark Stadium and as an Arts Consultant for the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority’s Arts in Airports program. She will be joined by Phil “Sike Style” Shafer, artist and owner of Sike Style Industries.
