DDO Restaurants rolled out a new concept in mid-July – DDO Chicken Express.
The location was at 650 E. Blue Ridge Blvd., in a two-tenant building just west of Holmes that previously housed DDO Restaurant’s Rey de Oros Taqueria (it relocated and expanded nearly three years ago).
Owner Miguel Cervantes closed DDO Chicken Express earlier this month, saying there wasn’t enough traffic, and the space only had room for a couple tables.
Now Rey de Oros Taqueria, at 13115 Holmes Road, is serving some of the DDO Chicken Express menu – charbroiled chicken grilled over mesquite, and sides such as smoky charro beans with bacon and sausage.
“At one point in the future, if we find a good space nearby, one where more families could come and dine, then we might reopen,” he said.
