Donate water for hurricane victims at KCFD

By John Sharp

Local residents who wish to help families in parts of North Carolina devastated by Hurricane Helene are being asked to bring unopened cases of bottled water through Monday, October 14, to Kansas City Fire Department Station 36, 9903 Holmes Rd., that will be delivered to the devastated areas.

Jackson County Legislator Manuel Abarca is coordinating the effort after hearing firsthand about the devastation in Mecklenburg County, N.C., from an official from that county at a meeting of the National Association of Hispanic County Officials.

The water collection effort is being supported by the KCMO Fire Department and International Association of Fire Fighters Local 42 and Teamsters Local 41 and the Missouri-Kansas-Nebraska Conference of Teamsters that are arranging for the water to be delivered.
