More than 6,000 runners from across Kansas City are preparing to take part in the 17th
annual Rock the Parkway half-marathon and 5K on Saturday, April 11
Race Day Road Closures Alert
To keep runners safe, a large portion of Ward Parkway and several surrounding streets
will be closed starting at 7:25 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, from 51st Street (north side of
Loose Park) south to Wornall and Bannister Roads.
Police and volunteers will be stationed throughout the course to monitor traffic and
drivers will only be allowed to cross the route when it’s safe. Residents are encouraged
to plan ahead and cheer on the runners as they race for a great cause!
You can find a downloadable map of the race route for your use HERE.
The RTP race website also has additional information for runners and the public, such
as the locations for two shake-out runs, packet pickup and the post-race party.
Hosted by Burns & McDonnell and KC Running Company, the event is a
chance to give back to Children’s Mercy Kansas City.
Rock the Parkway Official Race Starter

Jillian Carroll Letrinko will kick off the morning as the official race starter. A FIFA World
Cup 2026 Kansas City Ambassador, Jillian also serves as the color analyst and host for
the KC Current and hosts the Sports& Shenanigans podcast on KCSN.
Post-race festivities will include live entertainment, food and drinks from some of
Kansas City’s favorite restaurant vendors such as Wing Stand, Fiorella’s Jack Stack,
Nick the Greek, Popculture Gourmet Popcorn, Chicken Salad Chick and McClain’s.
