Just before 12:30am Saturday, officers were dispatched to the area of the 10700 block of Marsh near Bridgeport Apartments on a sound of shots call. While on the way to the call officers were notified the call was updated to a shooting call.
On arrival officers were directed to the victim, who was unresponsive in the parking lot. The victim appeared to have been shot.
Officers summoned EMS to the scene who declared the victim deceased. The victim has been identified as 18-year-old Ka’Marr A. Brown, a Black male.
Callers told Officers they heard the sound of gunfire and looked outside and saw the victim down on the ground unresponsive.
Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators are processing the scene for any evidence and canvassing for witnesses. Detectives are hopeful that someone heard or saw something here tonight.
If anyone has any information they are asked to contact Homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.
KCPD is committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
KCPD is working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
