Beautiful Body Tattoo and Piercing has opened in Martin City at 135th and Cherry Street, in a space most recently occupied by Related Home Furnishings and across the street from Jess and Jim’s Steakhouse. The tattoo shop moved to Martin City from 99th and Holmes, where it had been located for the past 13 years.
The owner of the shop, Neil Capra, is familiar with the Martin City area and is excited about their new location. “I grew up in the Martin City area and I went to school at Grandview High School. I worked at both RC’s and Margaritas when I was younger and have enjoyed all of the area restaurants over the years. Martin City has always felt comfortable and like home to me.”

Beautiful Body currently provides tattoos and piercings by several different tattoo artists and plans to expand to offer microblading and permanent makeup tattoos in the future. Their highly rated business has a large following and Capra says that he plans to serve them in Martin City “for many decades to come.”
Waldo Week celebrates Leap Year
The Waldo Area Business Association is celebrating leap year by kicking off its 9th Annual Waldo Week on February 29. The kick off event includes live music and free cocktails at the 75th Street Events space, 214 W. 75 St. The weeklong event, which ends March 7th, includes special offers from participating businesses and restaurants and pop-ups.
Mike’s Wine & Spirits is sponsoring the February 29th event from 5 – 8 pm and will be providing an open bar. The band Rumble Ghost will perform from 6:30 – 7:30 pm.
Throughout the week, donations will be collected to support The Children’s Place. The Children’s Place is a non-profit trauma treatment center for young children located in the Waldo area. Monetary donations can be made by mentioning Waldo at www.childrensplacekc.org/donate. The Children’s Place is also seeking items for our food pantry – canned meat and pasta, fruit snacks, granola bars, small boxes of cereal, oatmeal, juice boxes, etc. Please no glass jars or peanut products.
Waldo Week was created as a way to showcase the diverse restaurants, retail, unique services, and entertainment experiences offered in the neighborhood and offer the community the chance to support a local non-profit organization.

Ripple Glass has opened a new recycling drop off site in front of the Total Wine store at State Line Point Shopping Center at 13657 Washington Street. This new drop off site fills a void for south Kansas City residents who had recently seen a drop off site close at the Red Bridge Shopping Center. The site is one of more than 100 Kansas City area drop off sites operated by Ripple Glass, and it accepts bottles, drinking vessels, glass window panes, cosmetic bottles and jars and candle jars.
