Around 1:30 am Saturday, ambulance crews responded to meet South Patrol police in regard to a one vehicle collision. A Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper was traveling east on US 470 when he came upon the one vehicle collision and notified dispatch of the crash. A white GMC Yukon was traveling eastbound on US 470, at a very high rate of speed. The driver attempted to take the Blue Ridge Boulevard exit but was going too fast and missed the ramp. The vehicle traveled off the roadway to the left, traveling several feet in the mud and grass before striking the attenuator and guard rail. The GMC started flipping over multiple times. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
